![]() Like I said before, I would love to be spending weekends in the country chatting about theology with other like-minded individuals, I’d love to live in a community with a bunch of other Christians who met regularly throughout the day for prayer. Bonhoeffer doesn’t waste any time putting me in my place (and rightly so). ![]() In my previous post, I mentioned how jealous I was of Bonhoeffer’s summer travelling around monasteries and seminaries in England. There they find their mission, their work. So Christians, too, belong not in the seclusion of a cloistered life but in the midst of enemies. He had come for the express purpose of bringing peace to the enemies of God. On the cross he was all alone, surrounded by criminals and the jeering crowds. In the end all his disciples abandoned him. ![]() Jesus Christ lived in the midst of his enemies. The Christian cannot simply take for granted the privilege of living among other Christians.
